Back At It

It’s been about a month since I went to a yoga class.  That’s a long time.

Right after we moved to New Orleans, Douglas and I both bought a$20 Living Social coupon good for 20 classes at Shanti Yoga Shala.  Even though I had never heard anything about this studio, I figured it was worth the $20 even if I only went to a class or two considering it is only a stone’s throw away from our house.

This place did not disappoint.  Douglas and I went to a 7:15pm All Levels Vinyasa Flow class last night and it was awesome.  In the beginning of class, the teacher mentioned that you always want to strike a balance between discomfort and pain – meaning in your yoga practice, you want to push yourself to the point of discomfort, but not all the way to point of being in pain and injuring yourself.  I tried to focus on that throughout the class and can honestly say I really pushed myself throughout the entire hour and fifteen minutes.  I was so sore this morning that I could only muster up enough strength to walk Booker!  Needless to say, I will definitely be going back.  If you live in the area, this studio is a must try.

For dinner tonight, I chose to make another super quick meal from Cooking Light.  I whipped up Stir-Fried Shrimp and Spicy Orange Sauce over rice noodles with a side of sautéed spinach.

This meal was about as quick as it gets.  To make it even quicker, you could use bottled minced garlic and already peeled shrimp.

Have you done any exercise lately that has left you sore?

What is your favorite quick meal?
